Its Petroleum division is responsible for sourcing crude oil, refining various petroleum products, and distributing a range of fuels and lubricants, such as gasoline, diesel, kerosene, heavy oil, and aviation/marine fuels. This segment also manages hydrogen fueling stations. The Basic Chemicals unit produces and markets key chemical building blocks like olefins (e.g., ethylene, propylene, butadiene) and aromatics (including benzene, styrene monomer, and xylenes), in addition to other chemical compounds. Through its Functional Materials division, Idemitsu Kosan conducts research, development, production, and sales of a wide array of specialized products. These include lubricants and greases for automotive, industrial, and marine applications; engineering plastics, adhesives, derivatives, and solvents; electronic components like OLEDs; asphalt; agricultural inputs such as microbial pesticides and soil conditioners; livestock-related goods; and components for solid-state lithium-ion batteries. The Power and Renewable Energy segment manages thermal power facilities, concurrently developing and running various clean energy projects, notably solar, wind, and biomass power generation. This segment is also involved in the provision, wholesale, and retail distribution of electricity, as well as the research, development, and manufacturing of CIS thin-film solar modules and the sale of solar power systems. Within the Resources division, activities encompass the exploration, development, and extraction of oil and natural gas. It also handles the production and commercialization of coal and uranium, operates geothermal energy facilities, and sells both electricity and steam.
